Abstract

The iron that has divalent ions (Fe2+) in water is considered a contaminant because of its organoleptic properties. This
study aimed to 1) determine the adsorption capacity and the highest Fe (II) removal efficiency of Corncob Activated
Charcoal (AATJ), 2) determine the adsorption isotherm model (Langmuir or Freundlich), and 3) determine the adsorption
kinetics model (Pseudo-First-Order or Pseudo-Second-Order) which is suitable to describe the conditions of Fe (II)
adsorption using AATJ. The Fe (II) adsorption isotherm was studied at an adsorbate initial concentration of 50-300 mg/L,
an adsorbent mass of 0.15g, a stirring speed of 250 rpm, and a contact time of 40 minutes. The adsorption kinetics study
was studied under conditions of initial concentration of Fe (II) 100 mg/L, adsorbent mass 0.15g, and contact time 10-60
minutes. In this study, it was obtained: 1) the adsorption capacity and removal efficiency of Fe (II) by AATJ was 16.918 mg/g and 14.32%, 2) the appropriate isotherm model was Langmuir with qm and KL of 11.64 mg/g and 2,86.10-3 L/mg, 3) the appropriate adsorption kinetics model is PSO with qe,cal and K2 values are 19,53125 mg/g and 4,10-3 g/mg. min, respectively.
