Abstract
Mortar is used as a structure in engineering construction which is used for many things. In civil engineering, mortar is used for buildings such as masonry, ceramic tile installation and so on. In general, mortar consists of the main mixture, namely cement and water, however, sometimes there is also the provision of additives or substitutes.
In this research, a mortar experiment will be carried out using bagasse ash from the Camming Sugar Factory in BONE Regency as a binder to substitute some cement. This study aims to examine and observe the physical properties of cement paste using bagasse ash.
The test results of normal mortar compressive strength obtained at the age of 56 days is 13.19 MPa while the compressive strength of mortar with bagasse ash as a substitute for part of cement with a composition of 15% of cement is 9.36 MPa while using a composition of 30% cement is 3 91 MPa. Based on the results of the compressive strength test, it is shown that the mortar with bagasse ash as a substitute for part of the cement has a lower compressive strength than normal mortar compressive strength.
