Abstract

Coal briquettes are a non-renewable energy source and are often used as fuel for small domestic industries (blacksmiths, coal burning, roof tiles, etc.) and household scale industries. The continuous use of coal briquettes will reduce the availability of coal as a non-renewable fuel which is produced from geological processes over tens or even hundreds of millions of years. Therefore, it is necessary to have alternative fuels as a solution to this problem. One solution that can be taken is to make bio briquettes from organic waste materials such as rice husk charcoal whose quality can be improved by adding coconut shell charcoal. The stages of the process in this activity include making charcoal, making bio briquettes with variations in the composition of rice husk charcoal and coconut shell charcoal, testing the calorific value, making rice husk charcoal bio briquettes and coconut shell charcoal with variations in adhesive concentrations, and testing the characterization of bio briquettes to meet all standard data according to SNI. coal briquettes. The results obtained in this activity are the best bio briquettes composition obtained is the composition of 80% coconut shell charcoal and 20% rice husk charcoal with an adhesive concentration of 6% can be used to replace the use of class A carbonized coal briquettes and a composition of 50% rice husk charcoal and 50% Coconut shell charcoal with the adhesive concentration of 7% can be used to replace the use of class B carbonized coal briquettes.
