Abstract

This study focused on investigations in machinery for the manufacture of gears using EDM Wire Cut machines. In the study the monitoring device is currently used to evaluate the performance of EDM Wire Cut machines to produce gears. The research was conducted for various machining parameters (Current and Wire Speed) for one workpiece material, especially in the wire cut process. This methodology includes the preparation of materials and tools, the cutting process by measuring surface roughness and cutting time on EDM wire cut machines and machining process performance. The machined response measured is surface roughness and Cutting time). The results of the observation of the data will be analyzed by analysis using the Design Expert software to obtain the optimum cutting conditions that are related to the criteria of good straight gear product quality.
