Abstract

Achmad Taufik Amin, Optimasi Adsorption Time At Concentration Improvement Etanol In Batch By Using CaO As Adsorben, (Supervisor I:Tri Hartono, LRSc., M. Chem. Eng and Supervisor II: Ridhawati, S.T., M.T.)

Ethanolconcentrateimprovement usually use distillation process, however at distillation processrequires big enough expense and its process complicated so it need to conducted with simpler other and cheap method, one of them isadsorption method by using unslaked lime or oxide calcium (CaO) to improve ethanolconcentrate. Besides its price relatively inexpensive, unslaked lime also haves ability improves ethanolconcentratebecause permeable or fasten water.
Target of this research isdetermine adsorption capacities at ethanolconcentrate improvement by using unslaked lime pass by equation Langmuir or Freunlich and determine reaction time to improvement level of content/ethanolconcentration.The early treatmentis conducted thesieved unslaked limeand after that unslaked lime into the oven for 100°C at 1 night to lessen level of water. Hereinafter conducted adsorption process, at this adsorption process conducted by batch for 24 hour weighing unslaked lime 200gr in 400ml ethanol 56,15% that its reaction time to variation, theconductedsampleintake every 2 hours. After all samples are obtained, sample are referred as tested by using GC to determine concentration ethanol, later concentration ethanol that obtained from testing GC is used to calculate capacities of unslaked lime with by using equation Langmuir or Freundlich. Result of this research to indicates that capacities of adsorptionunslaked lime that obtained that is, 0,6740 for equation Langmuir and 0,5132 for equation Freundlich, whereas at practice obtained 0,6763., and best time that obtained that is at 10 hour with ethanolconcentration 68,01%.
