Abstract

Dayak onion (Eleutherine palmifolia (L.) is a plant that contains many bioactive compounds and antioxidants such as phenols, flavonoids, tannins, steroids, and alkaloids. These compounds have antioxidant potency that can inhibit and reduce free radicals. Bioactive components can be separated from plants using the extraction method. Conventional extraction generally takes a long time and a lot of energy, so more efficient method is needed, one of which is using the ultrasonic extraction method. This research aims to determine the total phenolic condition of the Dayak onion extract. The research was conducted with 2 variables, namely extraction temperature (30, 40, 50°C) and extraction time (30, 40, 50 minutes). The extracts obtained were analyzed for their content using UV-Vis spectrophotometer and GCMS. The results showed that the total phenol was 45.11 mgGAE/gram extract. The phenolic compounds that contained in Dayak onions are 1,8Naphthalenediol, 2, 7-diacetyl-3,6-dimethyl which is a phenol compound with the molecular formula C16H16O4.
