Abstract

The use of nonlinear loads in the distribution system becomes a separate problem in increasing the spread of
harmonics which can reduce power quality. The effect of placing a single tuned filter was investigated to minimize total active power losses and minimum %THDv against coordinated planning that had been carried out previously using the particle swarm optimization method by considering the distribution of validated harmonics on the IEEE 69 bus Test Standard System with the constrain specified. The effectiveness of the proposed plan can reduce total active power losses up to 59.61% and reduce the value of %THDv in each bus up to 55.18%.
