Abstract

Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) with multiple Tx-Rx antennas is used to achieve an increase capacity of the wireless communication system. Spatial multiplexing in MIMO operations applies the division of bit streams into multi sub-streams as the concept of independent information transmission of each antenna, with the impact of interference reduction in each transceiver process. In achieving high spectral efficiency, MIMO performance is strongly influenced by the combination of the number of antennas at the transmitter and receiver. This research has aimed to carry out study and trial application of MIMO system based on LTE standard in the physical layer, LTE Physical Layer (PHY). The method involves all processing in data bits up to the PHY using the full Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) operation, mainly through layer mapping and pre-coding operations. The urgency of the research is to develop LTE application standards on 5G as a representative of the evolutionary transformation of cellular mobile technology. In addition, the LTE standard is still an important part in organizing access to mobile broadband technology. The results show that the optimization of MIMO performance operations with spatial multiplexing techniques linear on the number of antennas used. Low-order modulation quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) levels and large MxN MIMO levels indicate better Rx-optimal and stability with low BER.
