Abstract

This study aims to determine the optimal pipe layout and dimensions for the clean water distribution system piping
network in hilly areas and steep valleys, and determine the effect of changes in the storage tank water level on the
effectiveness of the clean water distribution system in hilly areas and steep valleys. Optimization of the clean water
distribution system in hilly areas and steep valleys can be obtained by using the Genetic Algorithms analysis method.
This method uses parameters: pressure (Pa), pipe length and diameter (m), type of pipe, with constraints maximum water
velocity (m/s), maximum volume (m3), maximum drinking dam water level (m).The results showed an efficiency of 64%
while the discharge value continued to increase from 0.00029 m3/s to 0.0014 m3/s. The optimal layout obtained is to
divide the piping network into two parts, namely the piping network from water sources to the reservoir and the network
from the reservoir to the location of buildings and housing.
