Selayar Island is the largest island surrounding South Sulawesi Indonesia with about 121749 populations. However, only about 45% power electrical demand is fulfilled currently. Therefore, based on renewable energy sources that available and potential in Selayar Island, this paper will investigate and study about the possibility of applying hybrid system with wind and solar energy with the current existing diesel power plants in order to fulfill the rest of the power demand. In this paper HOMER is used to carry out the simulation and the results based on its Net Present Cost (NPC) value are presented and discussed. The results of this study could become one of references in the future for the authority when development and expansion of power generation systems in Selayar Island is under plan.
