Abstract

The densities of CaO-Al2O3-FeOx-SiO2 slag melts with 40 and 60 mol % SiO2 were measured using Archimedean double-bob method in the temperature range from 1350 to 1550 °C. The density of alkaline earth silicate slag melts decreased linearly with increasing temperature. Two types of mphoteric oxide in silicate slag melts bring about different effects on the density: the density decreased with increasing Al2O3 content, on the contrary, it increased with increasing Fe2O3 nominal content.
